Pacetis Marina and RV - St. Augustine If you are up for some Florida Bass Fishing, this is the spot. Located on the St. Johns River. Also, just a short drive to the Historic St. Augustine. When we were there, it was up for sale and showing signs of lack of maintenance. Rating View Park

Manatee State Park - Chiefland If you are looking to see wildlife, this is the place. Wake up in the morning with deer walking through your camp site. Anastsia Island State Park - St Augustine Nice State Park just outside of St. Augustine. Camping is water and electric only. Some sites are small in terms of parking, but all are separated by trees. Manatee Encore RV Resort - Bradenton Large quiet RV park located just of I-75 in Bradenton Sarasota area. Plenty of attractions, restaurants and shopping with in a 10 mile radius. Park has many seasonal and permanent residents. Rating View Park
Feb 26 - Mar 4, 2010 Crescent City Campground Located in central Florida on State Road 17 just south of Palatka (45 minutes from St. Augustine). Not the best park, as it is old and recently changes owners. Can use some work, but is clean. The best part of the park is that it is the only one in the area and if you need a place to stay in the area, it will do nicely. Good location for fishing as it is near many lakes and the St. Johns River. Three Stars View Park
May 28 - 31, 2010 Oscar Sherer State Park One of many Florida State Parks. Oscar Sherer is located south of Sarasota a few miles west of I-75. A nice quiet park. Sites large and separated by trees and brush. Most sites are designed for tent or tent/camper, however, many sites easily accommodate RV up to 30 feet (a few a little larger). If you like hiking, there are more than 15 miles of trails. If in summer, be prepared for heat and bugs. Very nice picnic area with swimming and a nature center. Also have a small river good for fishing and canoeing/kayaking. Five Stars View Park
Aug 20, 2010 Oak Springs RV Resort We just took possession of our new Winnebago Aspect and needed a place to check it out!. We found this nice park just around the corner in Port Richey. It was off season so the park was very quiet as it was only about 20% occupied. Looks like a very active Adult Community in the winter time. Rating View Park
Feb 27, 2011 Clewiston/Lake Okeechobee KOA First stop on our trip (Spring Break 2011) to the Florida Keys. this is a real nice KOA on the west side of Lake Okeechobee in the town of Clewiston Florida. One of the friendliest parks we have visited. While it was just a stop over, I highly recommend the camp ground. If you are looking for a quiet clean and well kept place, this is it. Five Stars View Park
Feb 28 - March 3, 2011 Sugarloaf/Key West KOA First class KOA with lots of activities. The sites are a little small, but considering the location and all the activities (Tiki bar, Pub, Beach, Marina, etc.) it is not so bad. Really enjoyed our stay. Only 14 miles from Key West, there is plenty to do both in the park and surrounding keys. If you are interested in water activities, there is no place better. Five Stars View Park

March 3 - 5, 2011

July 8-10, 2011

Lion Country KOA On our way home, we stopped in Lion Country. We have been talking about this adventure for over 30 years and finally made it (to bad our girls are all grown and did not make it with us). Lion Country Safari owns the KOA next door. This KOA is another first class place to stay. It is a very rules oriented park, but extremely well kept. Many activities for the kids and adults. Here you will have a very unique experience. Early in the morning and late afternoon (sometimes during the day to), you will here the Lions roar. Visit my gallery of pictures of the Lion Country Safari Park. Five Stars View Park
Aug 12-14, 2011 Silver River State Park We needed one last weekend before the Fall Term at the college started and I had to go back to work. So with some friends and their new trailer, we decided on a short trip to one of Florida's State Parks. This park is just 1 mile south of the Silver Springs Attraction on the silver river. Here you can rent canoes or kayaks and paddle up the river to the springs. walk the many trails, visit the museum, or the old Florida Cracker Village. To our delight, this is one of the best RV parks for parking and setup. Nice level well kept sites. Five Stars View Park
Sep 30 - Oct 1, 2011 Bill Fredrick Park at Turkey Lake - Orlando We spent a weekend in Orlando visiting our daughter and husband who were at Universal Studios. We found this little known/unpublished RV park just 4 miles from Universal. The $23 a night fee sure beats the $200 at the local hotels. This large city park on Turkey Lake has a small 36 site RV park tucked in the far corner. Very quiet and clean. This is truly a hidden jewel of Florida. You will need reservations, as it can fill up fast. October is a good time to go. It is cool and not very busy (neither are the Orlando attractions). During the seasons, reservations are a must. Five Stars View Park
Oct 14-16, 2011 Withlacoochee River Park - Dade City If you are looking for an isolated piece of Florida where there is not much to do except enjoy the natural wonders of the land, then this is it. This Pasco County Park is located east of Dade City along the Withlacoochee River and the Green Swamp. While not a conventional RV park, they do have several water and electric hookups (30 amp max) and NO dump station. You will also find several primitive camp areas which are often full of boy scouts and girl scouts. Lots of hiking trails (maintained by the scouts). You can launch your canoe/kayak on the Withlacoochee River. Plenty of wild life watching too. Bring lots of bug repellent as the mosquitos will be watching you. If you are in luck, there may be a major event while you are in the park. While I was there, I attended the Silverhawk Flute Gathering (the reason I went to the park). Rating View Park

JAX North / Kingsland KOA Small KOA just north of the Florida/Georgia border. Good place to stop when traveling into or out of Florida. It was well kept but too close to I10 (noisy). Office was closed (early) when we arrived. No problem checking in. Had been raining a day or two before we arrived, campground is in a low area and had lots of standing water. Rating View Park

Savannah South KOA Real nice KOA about 20 miles south of the Georgia/South Carolina border. Whether you are passing through or plan to spend some time in Savannah this is a good stop. Heyburn Riverside RV Park As we exit southern Idaho for our Utah adventures, we needed a quiet place to stop on a windy day. This RV park is right along the Snake River next to a county park. Nice place to take walks and view wildlife along the Snake River. This park is partially funded by Idaho Parks and Recreation which make it a very clean and low cost stop over. Rating View Park

Artillery Ridge Camping Resort An above average park adjacent to the Gettysburg National Historic Park. Lots of activity and very popular park. Will need reservations on weekend and holidays. If you are going to spend a few days visiting the battlefield, you will need transportation. If you like horses, this is a perfect place to stay - riding stable adjacent to the park. You can take a horseback tour of the battlefield from the park. Rating View Park

Mt. Pleasant/Charleston KOA

A real nice and busy KOA just west of Charleston SC. Plenty to do and you don't need to rent a car if you did not bring your own. Within a short (less than 1 mile) walk, you are in a large shopping center (nice place to shop and eat). In front of the Walmart is a bus stop. For just $1.50 each way (1/2 price for seniors) you can go to Patriots Point (Ft. Sumter and Naval Museum) or downtown Old Charleston. Good place to stop and stay awhile. Rating View Park

Whispering Oaks
Tennessee
After a long day of driving in heavy holiday traffic, we needed a quiet restful place to stop. As you may know, there are not too many places along I24 between Chattanooga and Nashville Tennessee (3 to be exact). This was just the place we were looking for. A small private and isolated RV park. You better get there before 5, or call ahead. This park is popular with the locals and is often full. There is not a lot to do (pool and playground) but rest. The owners were very helpful and found us a spot. Rating View Park

Manchester KOA

On our return trip, we planned ahead and stopped at the Manchester KOA, just a few miles from Wispering Oaks. This is a top notch KOA with lots of things to do (adults or kids). Truely one of the better ones. Rating 5 View Park

Shady Acres RV Park - Green River Heading south from Salt Lake City to Moab, you will encounter a lot of beautiful scenery, and few places to stop. Canyonlands Campground - Moab The real attraction here is not the park, but the town. There are a lot of RV parks, in Moab, this one is right down town in walking distance of food, shopping, and attractions. Good park, small sites, but you will spend most of your time in town. Lots of attractions and in short distance of two national parks (Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park). Great place if you don't have a tow vehicle. Rating View Park

Greenville Family Farm Campground

Haymarket

If your goal is Civil War sites and want to visit Manassas Battlefield (only about 10 miles), then this is the place. Not many choices in this part of Virginia. If you like farms, then you are in for a treat. This campground is located in the center of a working farm. You can get a full hookup that overlooks the fields or a basic hookup in the woods. If you like primitive out of the way places, then this is a good place for you. It is a little hard to find, so be sure to have a phone number handy if you need help. Rating View Park

Twin Lakes State Park A real nice state park in the middle of Virginia. We found this one on a Good Sam's map. It was in the general direction we were traveling and timing was right for a late afternoon stop. Had to go out of our way to find it, but it was worth it. Very quiet and and out of the way. No services like Internet or cable TV. Great place to spend some time if you want to really get away. Rating View Park
